European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) & this human world 2018

After a very succesful cooperation with European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) last year, we are happy to announce that we are going to continue it this year.

In collaboration with FRA, two impressive films will be presented and then debated by high-quality speakers.
Easy Lessons - tracks / movements
A cinematographic exploration questioning the meaning of belonging, home and identity across geographic, political and social borders.
The screening will take place on December 4. At 20:15 at the Top Kino. Afterwards there will be a panel debate with the film director Dorottya Zurbó, Maria Steindl from Youth College Vienna and the Human Rights Activist Waris Dirie, Adel-Naim Reyhani from the Ludwig Boltzmann Institut für Menschenrechte and social anthropologist Herbert Langthaler under the moderation of Ludovica Banfi (FRA). The focus will be on the sense of belonging, identity, integration and migration.
When the war comes - Radical Transformations
Individuality - one of the main demands of liberal thinking. But how far can one move away from social norms? When does free thinking turn into repression of dissenters? Under what circumstances are social rules and guidelines necessary to ensure a peaceful coexistence, in order to do justice to all people?
To see when the was comes on December 2. At 20:15 at the Filmcasino. The following panel debate with director Jan Gebert, journalist and writer Martin Milan Simecka, UNODC COORDINATOR OLGA LAN and the director of the European Network Against Racism, Michael Privot, is hosted by Henri Nickels (FRA). The discussion will focus on extremism and radicalization.

Further screenings under the patronage of FRA:
- The Distant Barking of Dogs by Simon Lereng Wilmont

Looking back: Fundamental Rights Forum Vienna

A heartfelt Thank You to everyone contributing last weeks Fundamental Rights Forum, making it an exciting and thought provoking gathering. We were able to witness compelling screenings and discussions, as well as instructive workshops throughout the forum.

It was a pleasure to view and discuss the films EXIT and THE CLEANERS at Stadtkino with Filmmakers and discussion partners, sharing honest opinions and insightful information, supported by an engaged audience, willing to address and challenge these highly relevant issues.

Our Workshops Human Rights Film Festivals: Zooming into local realities with Andrea Kuh, Linda Llulla and Michael Schmied & Call2Action - exploring video storytelling techniques with Claudia Modonesi and Nick Danziger brought an enjoyable opportunity to elaborate on these subjects and to engage in-depht with experts in the field.

Delighted many of you took rime and interest in the Fundamental Rights Forum, we are looking forward to future encounters with all partners and participants!
