The first three days of the 11th edition of this human world are history, and already we've seen, experienced and initiated a broad variety of discussions and interactions.
Friday night we made a call to Kenneth Reams in prison with director of FREE MEN Anne-Fréderique Widmann.
More information about his life at Free Kenneth Reams.
On Saturday did we not only have a discussion after the screening of SILVANA, but an extraordinary performance by David Go8lin at Brunnenpassage.
Right-wring tendencies getting more and more popular throughout Europe was addressed in and after the screenings of Germania and When The War Comes.
A lot going on on days 4 - 5 - 6
Once more we had a full Gartenbaukino for the screening and discussion to Welcome to Sodom!
Filmmakers of In the Name of Your Daughter, Easy Lessons und A Woman Captured as well as Guests for The European Grandma Project brought even more life to our movie theatres and encouraged dialogue with and within the audience.
Giselle Portenier made Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) a subject of discussion:
FGM #ismyissuetoo – get involved here:
Gender Identity and sexual stereotyping were matter of conversation in the course of the two film screenings Mathias and Bixa Travesty, in the presence of part of the film crew of Clara Sterns short film Mathias.
More days to follow, we are excited as this human world keeps on spinning.
Stay tuned – stay human.
Sunday, 2.12. Filmcasino will be screening an example of the rise of right-wing tendencies in WHEN THE WAR COMES.
Jan Gebert (Regie) will be present to discuss the film among a range of issues the film is addressing with Alexandra Martins (UN Expertin Kinderrecht) und Marcel Lorincz (ENAR: European Network Against Racism).
This Screening and discussion is made possible through our collaboration with FRA European Union Agency For Fundamental Rights.
When the War Comes
20-year-old Peter Švrček is the head of “Slovenski Branci”, a nationalist extremist organisation that provides military training for young men. They are preparing for “when the war comes”. The haunting images of Jan Gebert’s film warns us of the increasing radicalisation taking place in Slovakia.
