In 1979 four gay-right activists in San Francisco discovered the socio-political explosiveness of beared men in nun costumes. They started fighting for gay rights as the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence" and over time created a worldwide network of independent "mother houses" for people of different sexual orientation, who regard themselves as part of the international Sisterhood. For the occasion of the 30-year anniversary of the Sisters, the filmmakers Manfred Hoschek and Sigrid Smejkal take a deeper look at some of the mother houses.
