The introduction of micro-credit in the 1970s by the late Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus is prized as a successful means of combating poverty today. Tom Heinemann's documentary describes the downsides. Through interviews with stakeholders and experts, the director tries to show that the micro-credit meant the way out of poverty for only a fraction of the recipients . Many, due to high interest rates and immediate repayment obligations, fell into even greater financial distress were put under pressure to sell all their belongings to repay the banks.
