In the documentary Rent Boys, the fascinating and authentic life stories of five hustlers are brought together to illustrate the phenomenon of "male prostitution" and strip it of its clichés. We accompany them when they work, when they visit porn cinemas, when they are on the street, and, in Ionel's case, even when he visits his hometown in Romania. Street-social workers, proprietors of hustler bars and punters such as the Austrian actor and director Peter Kern also lend their voices to the documentary, helping Rosa von Praunheim tell a multi-faceted tale about the boys of Berlin Zoo Station.
